Job Purpose and Summary:

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting with management of the day-to-day operations for a retail paint distribution store to include customer sales and delivery, employee development, and merchandising.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and performs the operation of counter and phone sales, color matching, paint mixing, inventory management/control, and general maintenance and housekeeping of store
  • Assists Store Manager in promotion, evaluation, hiring, and termination of store employees
  • Supports the supervision of drivers and delivery vehicles
  • Performs coaching and development of store personnel
  • Handles cash register sales to include processing of invoices and entering purchase orders into computer system
  • Performs special ordering and check-in of UPS shipments
  • Assists Store Manager in all aspects of store operations, and, in the absence of the Store Manager, assumes all managerial duties
  • Fields technical questions from customers, and provides technical industry knowledge to store employees
  • Performs store opening and end of day closing procedures
  • Helps ensure store meets all OSHA and safety regulations
  • Assists Store Manager with responsibility of overall store inventory management and control to include: product stocking, theft deterrent, accurate store transfers, etc.
  • Ensures payroll to sales numbers are in line with company goals
  • Provides excellent customer service and vendor relations at all times
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
