Job Purpose and Summary:

The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for establishing and meeting sales targets to accomplish company objectives. Responsible for developing strategic sales and marketing plans based on company goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization. Direct management of sales and marketing staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains, manages, motivates, and holds accountable sales and marketing professionals to meet personal and company-wide sales goals
  • Ensures the execution of company standards as they relate to the sales and marketing departments
  • Establishes sales goals for all sales staff and monitors and evaluates performance
  • Conducts sales meetings on a regular basis
  • Maintains and monitors sales reports to include pipeline and sales forecasting
  • Monitors EPA and related state regulations to include development of literature, marketing, and customer training programs
  • Prospects new accounts, negotiates contracts, and maintains customer satisfaction
  • Maintains excellent business knowledge with respect to paint industry products, programs, inventory, technical support, service, and pricing
  • Responsible for departmental budgets to include forecasting annual sales & marketing budget, monitoring usage, and holding staff accountable
  • Prepares territory analysis based on internal and external information
  • Maintains sales forecasting activities and sets/achieves annual and quarterly performance goals
  • Targets and assists sales staff with winning high value targets while simultaneously training and developing these skills in current employees
  • Develops professional and strong relationships with PPG, 3M, ASW, and other vendors while coordinating sales efforts
  • Monitors development/maintenance of company website and online presence through Facebook, Twitter, and other avenues by the Marketing department
  • Ensures a consistent and appropriate marketing message is developed and used throughout the company
  • Spends approximately 70-80% of time traveling locally and regionally. Also spends a minimum of 10% more time traveling to competitive businesses to build relationships and grow territories
  • Mandatory overnight stays are required (average 20 – 25% monthly)
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
