Job Purpose and Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist I performs HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with department heads in supporting all employees across the company. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, payroll backup, Safety Committee chair, and employment law compliance. The Generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the business needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compiles payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, 401K deductions, and other general data
  • Monitors Time & Attendance (PTO) programs for the company
  • Is the back-up support person to the accounting department for bi-weekly payroll processing and data transfer to our payroll processing vendor
  • Compiles, analyzes, and distributes HR and payroll data reports as needed
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
  • Manages the employee insurance benefits enrollment and maintenance process
  • Processes employment candidate background checks, reviews new hire paperwork, and sets up/maintains employee personnel folders
  • Owns full lifecycle of the recruitment process from beginning to end, including job postings, phone interviews, and onboarding
  • Distributes and monitors the employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner
  • Spearheads the BAPS Employee Uniform Apparel program
  • Heads company safety committee
  • Assists with BAPS Community Events and Fundraiser programs
  • Makes photocopies, scans/faxes documents, filing, and performs other clerical functions
  • Assists HR Director with various research projects and/or special projects that arise and other duties as assigned
